VIKING RACING CLUB - LATEST NEWS....

Latest News From Viking Racing Club.......

Val Royal Filly Sent to Kevin Ryan .....
Plus Jump prospect acquired...

Three Year Old Filly, Dolly Royal who is by the same sire and last years classic winner Cockney Rebel is now at the Hambleton Stables of Kevin Ryan. This filly was purchased as a foal and was probably a bit small as a 2 year old but has grown and is now rather a large 3 year old. She is well bred and was purchased as a first crop of Val Royal. This was before the exploits of Cockney Rebel who won the 2000 Guineas in both England and Ireland. She is from a well bred dam and she could be decent. The decision was taken to send her to one of Yorkshire's top stables, that of Kevin Ryan. We are assured that any ability she has will be maximised and Neil Callan is stable Jockey to Kevin Ryan. A good move. Lets hope she is teh one to take us into the BIG TIME!

Haatmey Joins Viking Racing...

A new horse has joined the team, purchased privately today Haatmey is currently with Patrick Chamings. He will run at Kempton on Friday in our colours and then come North to the York stables of Noel Wilson.

Bailieborough Claimed, Farewell Old Friend .....
Bailieborough claimed for £15,000

Bailieborough was claimed today for £15,000 by Brian Ellison.

It is sad to see Bailieborough go, but we have 3 young horses that will be ready for the flat season 2008. We will also now look for a jumper to claim.

Bailieborough has won 4 races for us and has run well. We claimed him for £10,000 in 2005 and he was our first winner. But such is life and he is knocking on and flat horses struggle at the age of 9 and he just wont jump.

We will NOT be running Turner in a seller claimer or anything! So after Xmas three fillies will some in as 3 year olds and hopefully El Andaluz will be fit again to resume duties. We also have a 3 year old Colt by Act One that looks decent, so its a bright future with young horses!

Loulou Sells for Big Money to Fund Future Plans .....
Exciting Future for Club as Loulou makes big profit at Doncaster Sales.....

Loulou Nivernais has been sold for a five fold profit and this will fund the future plans that will see Viking Racing Club have its own stable and trainer and will enable all horses to be in training. This will mean that the club will have over 10 horses in training and our own stable means we will have monthly open days and members can be more involved in the racing side.

The club was sad to see Loulou go but business is business and he has gone to a good home! The club will acquire a chaser soon but the horses we have will see us running more regularly and members can meet our own trainer and visit our own stable. Watch this Space...

The race - The Pay as You Win at Telewin.co.uk Handicap Chase was a competitive affair, but we were confident and Loulou was heavily backed from 5-1 to 7-2 and won well, by 3 lengths despite a mistake at the third last fence.
